Darkstalkers - Morrigan and Lilith

Here we go, no more work on this. Only thing left to do is to evaluate the project and I can say one thing of the bat. The time it took is not ok, even if I managed to extract and compile a lot of hard notes and information from this. Off to a new project we go!

I am now declaring it in a cooldown period (So I can look at it with fresh eyes) If I find it ok, it is done.

I am a liar and a scoundrel, you really should not trust me when I say something regarding time, I spotted some odd things while cleaning up and had to postpone it again.. If you are wondering about the background, since I have drawn no wings on them I am looking into making the abstract shape into a giant bat built up of eyes mostly.

Giving it a one-day overview. Going to look it over and add the last effects, adjust colors and textures.

Cleaning up, experimenting with an easy background. Also if you are wondering about the wings, I have tried including them but could not get them to fit this late into the picture.

Last bit now.

I took the weekend to paint some plein air at the beach and was actually quite please with the results. Very soothing for the soul as well. I don't have a working camera thought so I can't show and tell right now.
However one of the reasons this picture is taking so long is that I've actually have used this to experiment with the notes and research I have gathered over a three year span, I did try them out on the pokegirl images but that was a really early attempt and I didn't write that much down. I have gone through every layer of the pokegirls with a magnifying glass to see what I did right or wrong, much to my surprise is not the parts I got wrong but the parts I got right. This is not meant as an excuse as I hate excuses, more of an explanation about the situation.

So at this point, I am tweaking it(eyes, shadows, colors) and looking into what will probably just be a basic background, or perhaps something that will add another weeks work as it always do.

After some practice, soul searching and switch of medium (started to learn how to paint plein air with oil, will update about that in a separate post) I have sorted a lot of private matter out and gone back, deciding on completing pictures. As you can see, a lot of fixes and changes have taken hold of the image. I noticed that I put a lot of work into faces and to get them completely right. Which might actually be the biggest reason for stalling myself, while faces are important I am going to try make the finishing detail work on them dead last in the future. That might make it easier for me to press on.

Ho boy, adjusted and fix a lot. What stands out the most is probably the heads which I have fixed to fit the proportions better.

Adjusting.

This is getting some on and off while I battle with some other stuff, mainly backs and waists.

Feelin' it!

Not that much done, but hey. Small progress is still progress.

I did a few studies of faces in general and managed to straighten a few things out in how to construct them, and I wrote it down this time. So aiming to get some work done this week.

Have to relearn some anatomical stuff that did not work out. So I am using this to help me fix it.

Feels like I have forgotten a lot in a short time.

Well, this is one of the things I am working on now.
